THE CHIANG MAI RIVERSIDE HOTEL is a hidden gem located in the old town part of the northern city of Chiang Mai, Thailand.

One of Chiang Mai’s latest editions in luxury boutique accommodation, The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel set’s new standards in service and satisfaction for the city’s boutique hotels scene. A small designer hotel comprising of 14 1 and 2 bedroom suites located on the Ping River, The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel promises spectacular modern design, impressive service, and highly rated local cuisine.

Welcome:
Arriving at Chiang Mai’s International Airport and being met by a staff member of The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel, we were then driven to The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel some 15 minutes away in private luxury minivan.

Upon arriving at The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel, we were met by 2 other friendly staff members. Presented with a ‘wai’ – traditional Thai welcoming and quickly acquainted with the hotel. We were then accompanied to our room and made familiar with the room’s features and amenities.

Rooms:
The rooms’s are designed and finished to a high standard, both luxurious and stylish in line with the theme of the hotel.
We opted for the 1 bedroom Worra Ya suite located on level 3 of the building.
All rooms come with a kitchen, full size fridge, dining table and living area with large soft sofa, large screen TV. Furthermore is a balcony with table and chairs, with views of the swimming pool below, and the Ping River. Most impressive in the room is the attention to detail in design, and the sense of luxury through the furniture and fittings that have been carefully chosen to represent high quality and the luxury design theme that The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel prides itself over.

There is Apple TV, a dining table chandelier, ducted zoned air-conditioning and large sliding doors in the bedroom that open out with a view of the pool and river. Lighting is zoned and adjustable to create the perfect mood or ambiance. The bedroom leads to a walk in closet, and bathroom that is accessible from the bedroom, or living room. The bathroom is also luxuriously designed and is modern and light. The Molten Brown bathroom amenities echo the hotel’s attention to quality, and are a very nice touch.

Staff:
Despite being a small boutique hotel, The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel prides itself on customer service and it certainly does not disappoint. The staff are very friendly, yet professional and can delivery any request at the drop of a hat. The staff at The Chiang Mai are very customer focused, attentive and service levels exceed expectations of what one can expect from a small boutique hotel.
Furthermore, most of the staff are locals from the area, and their local knowledge comes in great for recommending restaurants, attractions or places of interest.

Aside from efficient and attentive staff, the Chiang Mai also strives to impress it’s guests with it’s personal touches:
In room breakfast is sensational. With 4 choices; encompassing traditional Lanna breakfast, Asian, Vegetarian and Western, there is something to suit everyone. The breakfast comes complete with fresh fruit and a selection of pastries, tea, coffee and juice.
Breakfast is typically ordered the evening before, and one can choose the preferred time, between 6am – 2pm.
Upon breakfast arrival, the staff arrive to set up the dining table in preparation for your meal at your chosen time. After enjoying your breakfast, the staff will return and kindly clear up everything.
This royal service is absolutely fantastic, and the first time that I have experienced such a personalised VIP service at a hotel.

Food & Beverage:
The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel has an open plan restaurant, and separate air-conditioned restaurant and dining area looking over the river, just next to the pool.
A very relaxed atmosphere, this is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a glass of wine whilst the sun sets, or enjoy a lunch or evening dinner.
Further to the restaurant and dining area, there is also a bar servicing a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Prices of food & beverage are also very reasonable.
The food at The Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel is diverse, and the menu offers a choice of both local Thai and western cuisine. I tried on the Kan Tok set, which is a good introduction to local and traditional Lanna, or Chiang Mai cuisine. – Highly Recommended!

Aside from the Kan Tok set, there is a large choice of Thai food available, all of which is cooked with organic produce from Doi Kham – one of His Majesty The King’s Royal Projects.
More information from Doi Kham can be found here.
The Thai food on the menu is very authentic and is very well prepared and encompasses true, authentic Thai flavours.
All meals served to the room come complete with VIP service to set up, and clear the table before and after meals. Very impressed!

The Chiang Mai Riverside, although a small boutique hotel does yet include a fitness centre, outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi area, and also a shuttle service to and from the city centre.
At no cost, you can book the shuttle which runs through the day and evening, and within 15 minutes you’ll be in the centre of Chiang Mai’s bustling, vibrant city streets.
